We Made a Wish sign

My cousin asked me if I would make a sign for her to give to a good friend at her baby shower.  She knew she wanted it to say "we made a wish and you came true."  I had made a sign for her when she was expecting her daughter that said that!

This is what I came up with...

I hope the new parents love it!

Summertime Fun & A FREEBIE!

Hey guys!

As you know...we recently moved to a new neighborhood.  Of course you want your the transition to go smoothly.  Part of this is meeting new neighbors and well...being neighborly.

So when this guy pulled his usual disappearing act...I was mortified!

Thankfully...he ran right to our new next door neighbor!

Then last week...I got a knock on the door.  I open the door to find that same neighbor's wife with this  girl on a leash...

To thank our neighbors for capturing my wayward babies...I put together a little summer treat for them.

What better summer treat than s'mores?

And...because I love you guys...I'm offering that SUMMERTIME FUN decal to the first 5 of you to comment below!

Growth Chart

Hey guys!

Not that long ago, I went to the baby shower for my cousin's wife, Jessica.  As usual, I wanted to come up with a personalized gift for the baby.  For a while now I've been planning to do a cute growth chart.  What better gift, right?

So I went to Home Depot and picked up a nice piece of pine and some barn red paint.  I painted and sanded the board to make it look really weathered like it came from an old red barn.  I printed out my vinyl in white, applied it to the board and called it a day!

I wanted a way to bring these growth charts to you, but I know that shipping that board would be a nightmare.  Soooo, I'm offering the personalized vinyl so that you can make your own growth chart for your family.

I sent vinyl to a client and she made this awesome growth chart for her kids.  Cute!

If you'd like to get some vinyl, you can choose between white and black for $22 shipped. The vinyl will fit a 52" board.  If you're interested, email me dawn@eventuallycottage.com

Chobani Flips

I have one word to describe the new Chobani Flip yogurts...YUM!

I have to say that the following flavors get a thumbs up from me...Vanilla Chocolate Chip with Raspberries...Key Lime Cumble...and Almond Coco Loco!  The only flavor that I've tried and didn't like was the Vanilla Golden Crunch.

If you haven't tried these yummy Greek yogurts...be sure to pick some up next time you're at the store!

(I received nothing from Chobani or it's affiliates for this post)

My "New" Bistro Table and DIY Chalk Paint

Oh my GOSH!  I'm sooo excited to shared this project with you!

For a while now I've been wanting to re-make my cafe/bistro style table.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it as soon as I saw this picture from Funky Junk Interiors.

So cute...right???

Here is the before of my table.   Pretty standard...and boring.

I'm sure you've seen that the hottest thing in furniture renovations right now is ASCP (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint).  I checked out the prices of this paint online.  I'm not gonna lie...it's a little expensive for my budget.  So I started searching Pinterest for some recipes for DIY chalk paint.  Once I saw this recipe from I Heart Naptime...I figured I'd give it a try.  It looked easy enough.  Be sure to read all of the instructions because the measurements in the graphic are slightly off.

I picked up a quart of Behr Bleached Linen in satin, plaster of Paris, Minwax finishing wax in clear, and some disposable containers and got started.  I painted two coats of paint on the table top, sanded it to my liking, applied a layer of wax.  Once that was done I applied my stencil that I designed and cut using my Silhouette.  I used a small foam brush and painted on some black acrylic paint.  Once that was dry, I removed the stencil and applied two more coats of the wax.

I really think I'm in love...can you be in love with a table????

Selective Sight Eventually Cottage Style

Last week, Ashley from The Handmade Home wrote about selective sight when it came to her home.  Selective sight as she described it is when you choose not to see or acknowledge things in your home that you don't like.  We all do it, I know I do.

We bought our home in March.  We've accomplished a lot in the past few months since we closed.  There is still A LOT more to do but we've got 30 years to do it!  Lol!

The biggest change that we made to our home was a minor update to our kitchen.  We didn't want to sink a lot of money into a kitchen re-do because well...lets face it...there's lots of other stuff to spend the money on!  We need new windows... we want to add a deck... etc.

Our cabinets were very well made.  They were ugly... but well made.  Why not paint them?  The appliances were outdated... but we had just purchased new appliances for our old home that were not staying with the house.  Why not use them?

My philosophy was that it didn't have to be new or perfect to be beautiful!

We tore down some cabinets that we wouldn't be using, rearranged the appliance layout, and started painting the cabinets.  We used Behr paint plus primer in bleached linen.  The hardware on the cabinets were not exactly my style but they weren't horrible.  We used Rustoleum spray paint in oil rubbed bronze to update the hardware.

Now for the counter tops, would I love to have granite?  Maybe.  I'd rather have soapstone, but who's got the budget for that...I mean really.  I chose some 12" ceramic tiles and the hubs layed them on the diagonal for me.  I think he did a great job!  It's not perfect but it doesn't have to be...remember?

I fell blissfully in love with my "new" kitchen!

Ignore the clutter of cereal on top of the fridge...I'm still working on that!  I just wanted to prove that we do have appliances.  Lol!

It wasn't until I read Ashley's post that I realized there were aspects that I really did just choose not to see.  One of those would be this tile right here...

I'm not sure why it's raised like that, but I am not going to say a word to the hubs about it.  He has put everything into making this house feel like a home for our little family and there is no way I'm going to point out things to him and make him feel bad.  Eventually (see what I did there?) we will replace the countertop with something more pricey.  For now I love it...flaws and all!
