Hey there!  You guys might remember a couple of weeks ago when I posted about the Christmas ornament that I was selling with the hopes of donating 50% of the cost of each one to revitalize the Jersey shore after it was devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  If you don't remember, you can read about it here.
I had gotten a request to do 20 of them that would be added to gift baskets being auctioned off to benefit those who had lost everything!  It made my heart soar that I was going to be able to help so many people.
As I was working on finalizing the details of this deal, I got this message from Etsy...
Listing Deactivation Notice for Infringement

Dear Eventuallycottage,

We have deactivated some item listings in your shop per Etsy's
Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy.

We kindly request that you read the following information
carefully. Do not reactivate these item listings or relist these
items until the issue has been resolved.

This is a confidential matter, and we request that you not
discuss this issue in the Etsy Forums or otherwise violate the
confidential nature of this email.

The following item listings have been deactivated:

114252400 - Jersey Strong Ornament

Why Were My Items Deactivated?

1) Etsy received a notice from Kenneth Flore representation for Stephen P. Roma of WOW! Work Out World. The notice said that Mr. Roma owns the trademark JERSEY STRONG and JERSEY STRONG WORK OUT WORLD (Reg. Nos. 3,709,168; 3,705,853). According to the notice, certain material on Etsy is not authorized.

2) The notice drew attention to 1 listing(s) in your Etsy shop
including: 114252400.

3) The letter stated that these listing(s) incorporate designs,
symbols, language, images, or photographs that infringe upon
the concerned party's copyright or other intellectual property

4) Etsy removed the listing(s) based on Etsy's Copyright and
Intellectual Property Policy: http://www.etsy.com/copyright_policy.php.

If you have questions about this claim or if you believe there
has been a mistake, please refer to the information below. You
may also want to directly contact the party who submitted the
notice or infringement using the contact information above.

Thank you,

WHAT????  This guy is trying to tell me that he OWNS the trademark to the term Jersey Strong???  Are you freaking kidding me????  If you do a search on Etsy for Hurricane Sandy there are hundreds of items with the term Jersey Strong.  Why the heck is my item being singled out???  It's not worth my energy to get upset about this or to fight it.  However, I really am angry, no hurt.  This is what you get when you try to help others, when you are passionate about a cause?  I'm very soured on this experience!
Thanks for letting me vent!  I feel better now!
