Coasters and the Best Brownies EVAH!!!!

I've been seeing coasters made from tiles all over Bloggyland for a while now. I know, I know, I'm late to the party... as usual!!!

I've been wanting to try my hand at these coasters for a while. As a matter of fact, I bought the tiles at Home Depot well before Christmas.

So, I sat down last night with all the materials I needed laid out on the breakfast room table. To my surprise, the Prince and George asked if they could help.

I certainly wasn't going to turn down the chance at the guys participating in a little crafty time!

So, here are the finished coasters...

...cute, right?

I have a confession to make... the only participation I had in this project was using my Cricut to cut out the paper!!!!

My handsome guys deserve all the credit for these cute coaster!!! Yay!!!

(Can anyone tell me why my camera takes such blurry pics when I turn the flash off???)

Ok, I also have to share with you a recipe for the YUMMIEST brownies EVAH!!! I found this recipe at Living with Lindsay. George decided that he wanted brownies instead of a cake last night, so I decided to try this recipe.

Head over and print this recipe out... NOW!!!! Your family will thank you. Hee hee!!!

Linda over at Craftaholics Anonymous is having a Surprise Valentine's Day Linky Party!

Today's project is a LOVE plaque that I made with a 6"x6" piece of 1/4" mdf. I used some sweet rose scrapbook paper as the background. I cut the letters out of black cardstock with my Cricut, and finished it off with some tiny rhinesotnes placed randomly around the plaque.

Head over and check out the other LOVE-ly projects!!!

Roman Numeral Wall

I wanted to show you guys my favorite wall in the almost finished Family Room!

I did roman numerals for 1992. 1992 is the year that Prince Charming and I met, started dating, and got engaged! He thought the idea was really sweet!

I actually got the idea here, and immediately fell in love with it and knew that I had to adapt it to use in the Family Room!

This project packs a HUGE impact for a very small amount of money. The letters are from Hobby Lobby and were $1.99 each. With a little black spray paint, and some sanding I think they are just perfect!

I'm going to wait to show you more of the Family Room, cuz I'm still waiting on the sectional to be delivered.

I'm linking up to the following linky parties this week:

Thrifty Thursdays at Tales from Bloggeritaville

Trash to Treasure at Reinvented

Strut Your Stuff Thursday at Somewhat Simple

Family Room Re-Do Part 2

DANGER!!!! Construction Zone! Hee hee!!!

Our family room re-do is coming along... slowly!

I wanted to give you a little sneaky peeky of what's been going on.

The walls are painted. Yay!!! I wanted to do Behr's Brown Tee-Pee, which is what I have in the kitchen and breakfast room. I was browsing around the Walmart paint section a few weeks ago, and found a perfect match for Brown Tee-Pee in a Color Place swatch called Gaucho. How could I argue with the price? $12.97 for Color Place as opposed to $18 or so for the Behr. It covered beautifully and we are very happy with the outcome!

Below is a new brown leather chair that we purchased for the room. It has a matching ottoman that you can't see in the pic.

As the room started to take shape, my vision of the finished product changed... several times! Remember all the pretty blue accessories that I had purchased? Yeah, well scrap them! After finding the rug below on EBay, I decided that I wanted a more neutral and calming color pallette. So, I've decided to stick with shades of brown, off-whites and blacks primarily.

Hopefully, I'll have some finished pics to show y'all next week!!!!

Beginning A New Journey

I've recently made the decision that I need to make a change in my life. For years I have struggled with weight loss. Being the stubborn person that I am, I have always told myself that I could do it all on my own and that I don't need anyone's help doing it. As it turns out, for years I have been lying to myself.

My dear cousin Kristen's husband Johnathan is a registered dietician and nutritionist. He recently developed a weight loss plan that helped him lose an enormous amount of weight. He's become a hit with this plan and is helping many people on their weight loss journey now. Check him out at

So, I have asked Johnathan to help me with my journey. I am very excited about this, and would love to share my successes and struggles with all of you.

Wish me luck!!!

Show a Little Love!

I'm linking up to a few parties with yet another sweet plaque!

This one started out as a piece of 1/4" mdf (shocker, right?).

I added some pretty rose scrapbook paper that I found at Hobby Lobby.

I used my Cricut to cut LOVE out of some black cardstock.

I added teeny tiny little rhinestones for a touch of sparkle and a black ribbon for hanging.

This plaque will be added to a gift basket for my cousin's bridal shower.

Family Room Re-Do Part 1

So, as I mentioned yesterday, the family room re-do at Eventually Cottage is in full swing!

I'm going to warn you now, some of the following pics are just plain SCARY!!!!

By far, the most ambitious project of the entire re-do was the taking down of the wall between the family room and the stairs.

I'd been wanting to do this ever since we bought the house, but thought it would be too big of a project for us to tackle. Well, Prince Charming also had this project in mind and decided to tackle it head on!

This first pic was right after the big HOLE was put in the wall...SCARY!

(You can see before pics of the family room HERE)

This is truely a family project... everyone got in on it!

George helped...

Josie helped...

Even little Maya helped...

This pic was after one coat of stain. It's going to need a few more coats. I've realized that I absolutely HATE staining.

I'm so happy with the way things are going. This first project completely changed the look and the feel of the house. I absolutely LOVE it!

Stay tuned for more episodes in the SCARY family room re-do!!!

Oh, I almost forgot... I ran into Big Lots the other day and SCORED big time!!!! I'll have to take some pics and show you all of the fabulousness!!!! Stay tuned!

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and New Year!

Prince Charming took me for a romantic getaway for New Year's Eve. It was so nice to get away even if it was just for the night. A good night's sleep without the dogs or kids.

We started the renovation of our family room yesterday afternoon.

I'm thrilled with the way that things are going, although the mess that comes along with it is overwhelming to say the least!

I'll post some pics of the progress in the next few days.

I've also decided that my blog needed a new, fresher look. Let me know what you think!
