Mod Podge Mania!

Xazmin over at This is the Year is throwing another fun Mod Podge Party! Head over there and see what's going on!

I have two contributions to the party!

First is this little crown plaque! I love crowns! My Grandmother's maiden name was King, so they remind me of her.

Second is a sign that I made as part of a Bridal Shower gift for my cousin and his fiance.

DIY Day!

I'm participating in DIY Day over at Kimba's place today. You should head over there and check it out, cuz there sure are some talented ladies showing off over there!

My contribution today is a couple of small projects that anyone can do for very little money.

Both projects start with these 2 pieces of MDF. Pretty blah, right?

First up is this cute little fleur-de-lis plaque! A little black spray paint, some sandpaper to rough up the edges a bit to make it look a little rustic, a fleur-de-lis cut out of scrapbook paper and my trusty Cricut, some Mod Podge and wella!

Second is this cute home sign. A little oregano colored spray paint, black cardstock cut with my Cricut and some Mod Podge and wella again!!!

We Made A Wish...

My sweet cousin, Jamie, is expecting her first baby in October. When she was at my house for a bbq last week, she saw a sign that I have in my livingroom with some pictures of my kids that says, "We made a wish...and you came true." She said that it nearly brought her to tears and even joked about stealing it when she left that night.

I had purchased that sign from Ebay several years ago, so I don't know exactly where to get her another one. So... I told her I would make her one for the baby's nursery.

And, here it is!

I did it in a soft celery green that coordinates with the bedding that she's chosen. You can't really see it in the picture, but it's got a really sweet sheer green ribbon with white polka dots to hang it with.

I hope she loves it!

Update on my baby niece, Maddy: If my SIL doesn't go into labor by Monday, they are going to induce her! I'll keep you all posted!

Thank You Kara and a Cute Clearance Frame!

A few weeks ago, I won Kara's giveaway over at Creations by Kara!

What a great giveaway is was!

I won a really big moss ball made by Kara, this adorable monogrammed plaque, and vinyl wall words that I haven't put up yet! The moss ball I just stuck in a $3 flower pot that I spray painted Heirloom White! It's just perfect!

Thanks so much Kara!!!

And... I ran into Walmart this morning and found these adorable frames on clearance!

I was covetting them when they were regular price, but refused to pay the $20 they wanted for them. When I saw them in the clearance section this morning I was just giddy! When I scanned them and saw that they were only $5, I almost passed out!!!!

Run, don't walk, to Walmart and pick up some of these adorable frames!

Goodwill, Dollar Tree, and Michaels!

I've been seeing the fab deals that some of you are getting lately so I had to get out there and find some for myself!

First stop, Goodwill:

I found these stainless steel canisters for $3.99/set!!! Not sure what I'll use them for but I couldn't pass them up!

I also found this round frame. It's nicely made and I love the shape. I'm envisioning it painted white, but we'll see.

Second stop, Michaels:

While I didn't find the things that I was looking for, I did find these cute finds!

This tin box was on clearance for $4.34. I'm going to use it in my bathroom to keep an extra roll of tp in.

The little cloche has a sweet little nest and eggs in it. Too cute! It will aslo find a home in the bathroom.

Last stop, Dollar Tree:

I found these cute little Christmas buckets. I see them painted black with white numbers painted on them. Stay tuned!

Also these cute little bird tealight holders. I couldn't believe how cute they were!

I also picked up some flour sack towels. They remind me of the dish towels that my grandmother used to have.

My dear cousin also gave me another free piece of furniture! A desk that I will re-do and use in my workshop if that ever comes to fruition! It's not in a spot that I can get to easily to take a picture, but I promise to take one before I re-do it.

I totally apologize for my lack of posting over the past few weeks. It's been a busy time here at the cottage as I know it has been for many of you, too!

My little niece should be making her long awaited arrival any day now, so stay tuned!!!

I'm a Celebrity!

Ok, so maybe not.

I do feel like one, though! Why, you ask?

Head over to A Little Tipsy tomorrow and you'll see why!

If you have never checked out Michelle's blog, you simply must! She gives awesome tips for everyday life, and each Friday she features a different blog.

I am truely honored and humbled that Jen chose me to feature this week! Who woulda thougt I was that interesting.

Don't forget to check it out tomorrow!

Home Sweet Home!

It recently occurred to me that you guys have never actually seen Eventually Cottage!

I mean, you've seen plenty of pictures of my decorating inside the house. But you have never seen the cottage itself...

Until now!!!

Welcome to Eventually Cottage!

It's teeny, tiny, and has it's share of warts, but it's our home. And we LOVE it!

I hope you are all having a great weekend! The Italian Festival is taking place on the next street over this weekend, so our house is a buzz with activity! We've been enjoying spending time in the yard each night since Thursday relaxing and enjoying the music from the band at the festival. Tomorrow night we are having a huge bbq with family and friends. I'd better get back to work!

Goings on at the Cottage!

Woo-wee! It's been a busy weekend here at Eventually Cottage! I hope you all had a great weekend and a great 4th of July!

I've got a lot of pictures to show off, so I hope you'll bear with me!

We attended a nice 4th of July parade yesterday. Josie and her Aunt Becky had a great time! My SIL is due 7/27, but the doctor says she's already dilating and that little baby Madeline will probably make an early appearance!!! I'll keep you all posted!

This woman is just awesome! She has been twirling her batons since I was a little girl!

Look who showed up in the parade! Herbie the Love Bug!!! Sooo cute, right?

This is that fire engine that I drive, that I was telling you all about the other day! Hubby and I volunteer with this engine company! Just for the record, I volunteered for years before hubby!

Hubby and I busted out some home improvement projects today! Unbelievable how much we actually got done!

I have been wanting to tackle my bathroom door ever since I saw this project that Michelle did over at From House to Home.

I forgot to take a before picture until hubby reminded me. He was halfway through putting moulding on the door when he reminded me. Here's the before.

And the after! Hubby added some great moulding, and I painted the inside of the moulding the same color as the kitchen and breakfast room (Brown Tee-Pee from Behr).
I then added a pretty stamp in white. I still like Michelle's version much better, but this is nice too. I'm going to head out tomorrow and look for some metal accent pieces for in the middle of the stamps.

The doorknob was that brass color that you see just about everywhere. Hubby spray painted it oil rubbed bronze. I love it!!!

The lantern on our front porch was also brass colored. Yuck in my opinion. Hubby took it down and spray painted it the same oil rubbed bronze.

Much better now!!!

I had showed you this trio of frames pieces that I created with my Cricut a few months ago. However, everytime someone slammed the bathroom door, they'd come flying off the wall. (With a pre-teen girl in the house, that door gets slammed quite often!)

So...I did away with the frames (cuz there was no more glass left in the frames) and mod podged the paper onto a piece of wood that I spray painted black. Hah! No more glass to break, guys!!!

Woo! Thanks for hangin' in there with me! Stop over at Between Naps on the Porch for more Met Monday posts!

Just One Of Those Days

Ok, so one day every month every sight, sound, and smell bugs the heck out of me!

Ladies, ya'll know what I'm talking about.

The mcintosh apple candle that I have burning in the kitchen doesn't smell apple-y enough.

My hair is too curly.

The dogs are shedding waaay too much.

The t.v. is waaay too loud.

The house isn't clean enough.

The laundry doesn't smell fresh enough.

I want to re-decorate each.and.every.room.in the house!

I tried to get creative and do some crafting and everything turned out ugly.

Ugh!

I could go on and on. Anyhoo, what's going on with you guys today?
