I Love A Parade!

Ever since I can remember, I have loved Fireman's Parades! I love the music, the shiny fire engines, the firefighters all dressed up. I just love it.

Last night one of the neighboring fire departments had a big parade to celebrate their 100th Anniversary.

It's hard to see in this picture, but that fireman there that looks like he's trying to tell me not to take his picture is my handsome hubby!

This Josie, her BFF and my cousin's little girl, Ellie.

Ellie loved the parade and spent the whole time waving to everyone that passed! How cute is that???

This is Ellie's baby brother, Johnathan. What a cutie, and look at those bright blue eyes!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Giveaway Follow-Up!

I wanted to catch you guys up on my Etsy Giveaway from last weekend. Hillary was the lucky winner, and chose a custom Sophia Bench!

Hillary's niece is expecting a baby girl this week, and wanted to give her the bench to welcome her. Baby girl's name will be Bayla. Isn't that a pretty name? When I was expecting George, his name was going to be Kayla if he were a girl, Bayla is just as beautiful a name!

Hillary wanted the bench done in purple and green because that's what her niece liked.

Hillary, it's done and heading your way tomorrow! I hope it arrives before the baby does!!!

And...I was the lucky winner of Tanielle's giveaway from a few weeks ago!!! The prize was 7 of these beautiful embroidered pieces to represent the seasons and holidays throughout the year.

I received the first 3 yesterday.

First, the 4th of July:

Second, Christmas:

Third, Spring:

My pictures don't show the true beauty of these pieces, believe me! Tanielle is one talented lady!!!

Thanks, Tanielle!!!

I Can't Post Comments!!!

Ok, so I'm having some serious computer (or Blogger) issues tonight. After working a long 12 hour day, I was so looking forward to coming home and spending some quiet time and possibly checking out some of your blogs!

Well, after restarting my computer 3 times, I was able to read a few of your blogs. However, everytime I try to post a comment, I get the old "page cannot be found" message! Ahhh!!!

So, I want to give a quick shout out to some of you:

Marty- it looks like your cloche party today was a HUGE success! Congrats!

Nicole- Congrats on winning one of the Nester's giveaways! I can't wait to see what you do with your winnings!

Inspiration Day!

I see so much here in bloggyland that inspires my decorating mojo and my crafting mojo!

I've decided that once a week, I am going to showcase a project that I've seen throughout bloggyland that made me stop in my tracks!

The day of the week that I do this is going to vary due to my cooky schedule.

This week, I'm showcasing 2 very creative ladies.

First is Angie from The Happy Homebody! She is one creative gal! Recently she took a styrofoam pear, cut it in half, and created this:

Second is Sarah from Thrify Decor Chick! She is awesome! Inspired by Angie's creation, Sarah created this from a pear and some dollar store plates!

I think I will be heading to the dollar store for some styrofoam pears real soon!

Eventually Cottage Creations!

I've started a second blog to showcase my creations!

I am still using Etsy, this will be just another way for people to access the items that I have available for purchase.

When you have a moment, stop over and check it out!

Changin' It Up!

I guess I was a little bored today, and felt like changing things up a bit.

Remember the adorable signs that Christina made me, and the iron piece from the yards sales the other day?

Well, this is what I decided to do with them! Remember the iron piece was greenish? I liked it like that, but I couldn't leave it that color if I put it here. So, I wipped out my spray paint! I started with oil-rubbed bronze spray paint and then went over it with just a hint of black.

I think I likey! What do you think?

End of School Year Hectic-ness!

School ends here next week, so this weeks means the dreaded FINALS! Ahhh! I can so remember how stressed out finals made me when I was still in school!

Josie and her BFF (: went straight to the BFF's house after school yesterday for a last minute cram session for their Social Studies final today. Josie came home about 7:00 last night and was totally stressing out about today's exam. I studied with her until about 9:00, then I took the study materials away from her and told her she needed to just chill out and get some rest otherwise she was going to fry her brain.

You see, my children are very different. George picks things up very easily, exams are no big deal for him. He breezes through them without hardly studying at all. Josie on the other hand, studies her little heart out in order to get the grades that she gets.

Josie was mortified when she came home last night and found out that George was out fishing with Dad instead of home studying like her.

Today, Josie has a 1/2 day. She and the BFF will come here after school to do more studying for tomorrow's math exam. I will let them study for a time today, but then I will probably insist that they take a break to swim in the pool for a while. After dinner, they will pay a visit to my SIL, Becky's, house and she will give them a last minute tutoring session in math.

I just feel awful that these little 12 yr. old girls have to stress so much over these exams. I remember going crazy over exams, but not until high school. I think there is a lot of pressure on our kids today, and at earlier and earlier ages.

Good luck, baby girl! You can do it!

New Etsy Item!

Just listed on my Etsy Store, this sign comes in the pretty lilac color shown or a soft pink.

Stop over at the store to check out more details!

Oh, and George asked me last night why I don't have any boy items in the store. So, I'm working on it.

Oh Craft it Forward Buddies!

Amanda, Sarah, and Lindy these little cuties will be heading your way later this week!

I had so many ideas running through my head about what to craft for you guys!!! Then, I remembered Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS)! I decided to run with my new obsession for everything simple, black and white!

I created a set of three small plaques for each of you.

On second thought, I think I'm going to keep them for myself! Nah, just joking!

I hope you guys love them!

Tip Junkie Party

Have you heard about the Going Dot Com party starting today over at Tip Junkie?

No? Well Tip Junkie is having a great party! Starting today, they will give away 10 prizes every day through Friday!!!!

The prizes will be from Mom-preneurs! If you don't know what a Mom-preneur is, you'd better head over there and find out!!!

Good luck!

Weekend Yard Sale Finds!

A neighborhood in the village next to ours had a neighborhood wide yard sale this weekend!

The whole fam got up and out of the house at 8:00 Saturday morning. Yes, the whole family! I didn't even have to do the guilt trip thing or anything!

So, I think I made out like a bandit at house #1. Thank goodness I was early, cause they had some great stuff!

I nearly passed out when I saw this clock! It was in it's original box, still wrapped in bubble wrap and from Home Interiors (it's one of those home party type business things and it's pretty pricey). $10 people!!!! $10!!!! I have been coveting these clocks everytime I see them, I just could. not. believe. my. eye!!!!

These little angels were just too cute to leave behind, and for $3 for the set, why not?

Josie found this pretty little music box for $5. I couldn't tell her no. It's so pretty!

I also bought a pretty multi-colored rhinestone bracelet for Josie. It was from Lia Sophia (another home based party business). I got it for $2.

I also got 2 large black wrought iron lamp-style candle holders with metal mesh shades for my deck. $3 for the pair!!!! And these things are the size of a floor lamp! Too cute, I forgot to take pics of them, darn!

Last, but not least, I found these guys at house #2

This white wood piece will soon be black and have hooks on it and live it's life as a coat rack. I'll be sure to take after pics. It was only $1! The little window mirror will be re-done somehow too. It was $5. The metal piece was $2, I like it just the way it is and it will hang in my bathroom.

I think that even hubby had a great time. It may have something to do with the new-to-him fishing poles he got at house #3!

Loss Sucks!

Sorry about the blunt title on this post, but that's kinda how I feel today.

Two years ago today, my dear younger brother, Tommy, lost his courageous battle with Lymphoma. He left behind an amazing wife and a beautiful 3 1/2 year old little boy.

It seems as though it was just yesterday, and my heart is breaking just as it did that day.

Rest in peace my dear brother! I love you and miss you terribly!

We Have a WINNER!!!

Thank you all for the sweet comments on my Etsy Giveaway! You guys rock!!!

Since the giveaway was Prince Charming's idea, I let him choose the winner.

So, without further ado... the winner is... Hillary of The Life of an Average Girl!!!

Congratulations, Hillary! Please email me and let me know how to personlize your Princess Bench!!!

And...

*** To the FIRST 3 of you that come over to my Etsy store and place an order... you'll receive $5.00 off your purchase!!!***

Junk Party!

Kennesha over at Me and My House is having a way too fun party on June 18th!

It's a Junk Party. Aww yeah!!! You know I'll be all over this one!

Click on the button on the left and it will take you right over to Kennesha's blog for all the details!

Totally Random

This post is just a bunch of mish mash... stuff I wanted to share with you guys.

Dontcha just love this set of signs? Christina from Signs of Obsession made them for me. She posted them on her blog one day last week, and the minute I saw them I knew I had to have them! I highly recommend you check out Christina's signs, they are awesome, her prices are very resonable, and she shipped them out super fast!

Stinkin' cute, right?

Sophia's (from The Sophia Bench fame (: ) Mommy saw the letters that I made for my neice-to-be last weekend and asked me if I would do some for Sophia's room. She wanted them done in pastel pink and lavender. Too sweet!

This is a picture of one of the two sheds that we have in our backyard. One is kind of big and stores the quads, lawnmower, etc. The other isn't quite as big and just kinda stores junk. I was mentioning to hubby the other day that I would really like to turn it into a workshop for me to do my crafts and stuff in. Right now I spread out all over the kitchen and breakfast room when I do a project and that's not really the look I'm going for. (:

No sooner did I mention it, and he was getting started with plans for it! He's arranging my cousin to come and run electricity in there. He's going to start cleaning it out this week while we're both off, put sheetrock up and a new floor! Isn't he great?????

Hubby also hit some yard sales with me this morning. I think he actually had a great time. It may have had something to do with the fact that he got 2 new-to-him fishing poles!!! One large street in a neighboring town had a street wide yard sale and I made out like a bandit! I'll post pics of my finds soon!

To all my Craft it Forward buddies- I havent' forgotten about you guys. I'm working on your goodies, they should go out soon!

Check in tomorrow to see the winner of my Etsy Giveaway! I was blown away by the response and the sweet comments. Thanks guys!

A Love Story.

Today, Prince Charming and I celebrate our 16th Wedding Anniversary! Wow! 16 years!!! It's hard to believe that many years have passed!

In April, 1992, I was 19 years old, working in a local supermarket. I had been in a relationship with another boy for a few months and wasn't happy. One night, I had a very vivid dream that showed me what my "dream guy" would look like (wierd, I know, but I have dreams like this a lot). The next day, a new guy started working at the same supermarket. I was shocked when I saw him... it was the guy from my dream!!!! Seriously folks, I can't make this stuff up!!!

Over the next couple of months the Prince and I got to know each other. I found him to be like no one I'd ever met before. He was kind, sincere, soft spoken... and so darn handsome! I broke off my relationship with the other boy and pursued the Prince.

I asked him to spend time with myself and my friends twice, and both times he had other plans. Finally, the third time, he said yes.

On June 27, 1992, a group of us set off to the movies to see Batman. Each "couple" in a different car. For some odd reason, the Prince and I were the only ones that ended up at the movie theater. This was before the age of cell phones, so we had no idea that the others had decided to go and play pool instead of going to the movies. Well, the Prince and I enjoyed the movie anyway.

From that day on, we were inseparable. On July 4th he mentioned that I was the girl that he wanted to marry. I joked it off, and never really took him seriously. He asked a few more times over the next few months, again I didn't really take him seriously. Just before Thanksgiving, it was the real deal... ring and all!!!!

On June 12, 1993 we became Mr. and Mrs. Prince Charming! It was the happiest day of my life!

On January 29, 1994 we welcomed our first child, a son- "George". George is the spitting image of his handsome daddy! (Don't do the math, it won't add up). On January 23, 1997 we welcomed our daughter- "Josie".

The rest is history! I love this man more today than I did 16 years ago. He is my best friend, the best companion I could ever ask for. I would rather spend time with him than anyone else! He is truely my Prince Charming!

Thank you for allowing me to share our love story with all of you!

Baby Shower!

My Mom and I had a small Baby Shower for my SIL, Becky yesterday! We had a it at a cute little Italian restaurant in town. It was so much fun!

I was busy during the party so I didn't get a chance to take many pictures, and unfortunately, most of the ones I did take were too blurry to do anything with! Grrr!

Here is a picture of Becky with my little Josie! The two are very close.

My SIL mentioned to me a few weeks ago that my brother really wanted letters for Maddy's room to spell out her name. We had planned to do this project together, but with our schedules it just didn't happen. I did them as a surprise for Becky and my brother!

It was a fun day, great food, great company, and lots of pretty pink dresses!

Fashionably Late!

I know I'm late for the Goodwill Party that Thrifty Decor Chick had yesterday (that I posted about here). But it's ok to be fashionably late, right?

I popped in to my local Goodwill this afternoon just to see if they had anything new.

When I saw this table, my heart nearly stopped!

I'm not sure you can make out the price tag on this because of my sooo totally fabulous camera, but it was marked $14.99!!!

The clock face has some staining on it, that I believe may be mildew. I asked the lady working there if I could get it for $10.00 because it was going to take a lot to clean it. She said she'd give it to me at the pink tag price and pointed to a sign, that said: "Pink Tag Items 50% Off." What?????!!!!! 50% off????!!!

Now, I don't know if it's technically polically correct to haggle prices at Goodwill, but I did. I got this baby for $7.49!!!!!!!!! Yup, you read it right, $7.49!!!!!!

I'm not worried about the mildew because I will probably remove the clock from it anyway. Otherwise I'll just use a little bleach and it will be as good as new!

Not sure what I'm going to use it for, but whatever I do with it, I'll let you guys know first!

CHECK HER OUT!

Check out Michelle at From House to Home!

Michelle's hubby gave her some goodies that he found on Craig's List for Mother's Day! What a guy, huh?

One of the goodies was an antique dresser. It was pretty before, but check it out NOW!!!

GORGEOUS!!!!

She also took some Etsy clothes pins (cutie patooties!), some ribbon from Walmart, and some antique postcards and hung them on the mirror above the dresser.

GENIOUS!!!!

Anyway, if you haven't stopped over to check out Michelle's blog, GO NOW!!! She's such an inspiration to me! She's absolutely fearless in her decorating, and sooo creative!

Goodwill Party!

Have you guys checked out the Goodwill Party that Sarah over at Thrify Decor Chick is having today?

I had to work today, so I'm posting this later than I would have liked. But I would have been remiss if I didn't tell ya'll about the party!

I don't have anything to contribute, but you know how much I believe in repurposing Goodwill finds!

Get over there and check out the party!!! Hopefully the awesome posts over there will inspire some of you to pay a visit to your local Goodwill and use some creativity to make something you can be proud of out of someone else's trash!

Remember, take into consideration the lines and the bones of pieces. Anything can be painted or decoupaged, but if it has great lines and bones that's a bonus!!!
