Thanks, Michelle!

Michelle at A Little Tipsy (love the name of her blog!) was so sweet and gave me this great award!

One of the rules for accepting this award is to bestow it on 10 of you new fav blogs. Since I did that last week, I'm going to skip that step. You guys know who you are, so feel free to grab the award!

Thanks, Michelle!

Grand Opening!

I am proud, excited, and nervous to announce the Grand Opening of my Etsy Store!

For years I have enjoyed creating home decor items and gifts for family and friends.

For years I have been told by many people that I should start selling what I create.

It's always been my dream to create for people and maybe earn a little "mad money" in the process.

With tons of recent encouragement, I have finally bit the bullet!

Please take a few moments to look around the store (check out the banner on the left). I've only listed a few items to start out, but will be adding more items each week!

I will gladly take requests for custom pieces, feel free to email me (see the button on the left).

***To celebrate the grand opening, I am offering free shipping until June 30th!!!***

I Won!!!

Tanielle at The Polka Dot Daisy recently had a great giveaway for her 100th post!

Guess who won?

I never win ANYTHING! I'm so psyched over this!

Below is the first of the prizes I will receive. Isn't it beautiful? Tanielle stitched this herself!

Here's the best part, I will receive 6 more of these beautiful framed stitckworks this year!!! These will be to celebrate, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter/spring!!!

Home Re-Do One Room at a Time- The REVEAL!

It's finished!!! Remember the Home Re-Do One Room at a Time challenge that I joined over at Family of Shorts? Remember the before pictures? Yikes!

I've been working my butt off to make the changes that I wanted, and the changes that you all suggested. I didn't get the pillow covers finished, but oh well. I'll save them for another time.

Warning: If you like the matchy matchy look (not that that's bad), you may want to look away! LOL!

WELCOME to Eventually Cottage!

This is the after of our "entry." You may remember that this was often filled with random shoes and backpacks. I took your suggestions and added a basket by the front door for all the stuff that comes in the house. I also added a set of hooks by the back door for the backpacks and shopping bags.

You may also recognize my free radio cabinet!

This is the tv wall. Try as I might, I could NOT get a clear picture of this area!

These shelves were the basic ones from Target in a dark brown. We painted them a creamy white and antiqued them so that my accessories would stand out more.

Bet you think that big old tv is for Prince Charming, right? NOPE! He gave that to me for Christmas two years ago so that I could watch my football games on it!!! I LOVE football!

This is our sofa. It's my blogging spot, it's where Josie and I snuggle and watch our favorite shows, and it's Abby's normal napping spot!

This is the ugly chair! I told ya it was staying! LOL! Again following your suggestions to add so more color to this area, hubby and I re-did this window. I love the way it turned out!!!

You'll also see my Craig's List rocking chair that I posted about a while ago.

This is the former hutch top that belonged to my cousin. It is now a beautiful cabinet that houses the books, dvd's, and magazines that used to be in a basket next to the sofa and looked like a mess all the time!

And because ya'll know how much I believe in frugal decorating (I preach about it enough, right?) I wanted to be sure to show you this candle tray. Can you guess what it used to be? It started life as one of those silver dollar store trays! I spray painted it with an oil rubbed bronze spray paint and WELLA!

So, that's it! I hope you enjoyed the tour!

Don't forget to stop by Family of Shorts to check out the other reveals and Between Naps on the Porch for more Met Mondays!

I think I messed up my post for the Craft it Forward from Caldwell's Cuties that I'm participating in!

I thought that by signing up, I just payed it forward to my first 3 posters, and that's it.

Not really a big deal, as I really love these pay it forwards! I just want to make sure that I clear things up for you guys.

Here are the official rules (thanks to Kim):

1) Be one of the first THREE bloggers to comment on this post.
2) You then agree to share your snail mail address with ME (leave me your e-mail in the comment and I'll contact you) so I can send you a small gift handmade by ME!
3) When you receive your gift, you then blog about this game & link back to my blog in that post.
4) And most importantly, you ALSO AGREE to "craft it forward" (or just pay it forward if you'd rather) and send a small gift to the 3 people who comment on your blog post...

Sooo, to the first 3 posters to comment on my post from yesterday about the Craft it Forward, if you are not interested in participating I understand. Just let me know via e-mail. If that's the case, I will post here again and open it up to new posters.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm still learning this stuff. Thanks, guys!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

My gardens are putting on a fabulous show right now! I thought I'd share it with you guys!

I cut some peonies, some roses, and some daisies and put them together to add some color to the family room.

This is one of my red, white, and blue arrangements!

This is a 2 yr old knockout rose. This is her best showing yet!

These are a couple of pics of the rose bush that was existing when we bought the house. It's so beautiful. I have about 70 blooms on it right now!

Some of my pretty daisies! Love them!

These are a sampling of my pink peonies. My friend, Diane, introduced me to peonies! This is a baby of her plant. I *heart* it soo much!

Lastly, one of my pink azaleas. Sadly, she is on her way out for the season.

I'd love to see pics of what's going on in your gardens!

Trash to Treasure Radio Cabinet

I'm participating in Kimm's Trash to Treasure Tuesday again this week over at Reinvented (have I ever told you how much I love her blog?)

I posted pics of my radio cabinet waaaaay back when I first started blogging and didn't have very many followers. If you have seen it before, I apologize.

I spyed this on the side of the road on my way to work one morning back in the fall. It had a sign on it that said, "Free, Take Me."

After much hemming and hawing, hubby went back and picked it up. I ended up being late for work that day, but look what I got for it!

I never took before pics of it because it was pre-blogging. It was pretty sad looking, trust me. We sanded it, and painted it a creamy white. Then antiqued it and covered the icky speaker with some black and white toile.

I love this piece! It sits right inside my front door and greets all my guests!

Stop over at Reinvented and check out the other Trash to Treasure Tuesday posts!

Craft it Forward!

A few weeks ago, I found Kim's blog, Caldwell's Cuties. At the time, she was hosting a Craft it Forward.

I love to pay it forward, so I thought this sounded like fun!

The deal was, that by commenting that I wanted to join in on the fun, Kim would craft me a little prize. Once I recieve my prize, I agree to post about it here.

So, here's the prize that Kim sent me! This picture is very blurry, and doesn't come close to showing the total fabulousness of what she created for me!

Included is a small purse (that she created), filled with greeting cards that Kim made, and a little notebook that she made! Oh, yeah and how can I forget... peanut M & M's!!!! The cards that she made are beautiful!!!!

Then... the first 3 of you guys to comment gets a small Craft it Forward prize from me!

The only catch, is you have to share your snail mail address with me.

Soooo...if you are one of the first 3 to comment on this post, use my e-mail button on the left and email me your info!

That's it, that's all you have to do!!!

Goings on at the Cottage

So, I thought I'd catch you up on what's going on here at Eventually Cottage. On top of finishing up my family room re-do in time for the deadline of Amanda's Home Re-Do One Room at a Time over at Family of Shorts (see her button on the left), we're in the middle of installation of our new pool.

Below is what it's going to look like when it's done!

Yeah right!!!

It will look more like this one.

And I'm fine with this one! My hope is that my kids and their friends, and our family will have years of fun in this pool!

I do have a question for all of you pool owners out there. How do you store all of the pool toys and accessories? I have scary visions of pool noodles and floaties scattered throughout our yard.

Enjoy your weekend! I will be spending mine at SIL's baby shower, doing some planting, making sure all of my American flags are flying, and sewing pillow covers for the family room.

Don't forget to take some time on Monday to honor our veterans and the men and women that are currently serving our country in the military. After all, that's what the day is all about!

Show Us Where You Live

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner has a series going on called Show Us Where You Live. Where she asks bloggers to show off a different room in their home each Friday.

I'm joining in today for the first time. Today's room is the Dining Room. Eventually Cottage doesn't have a Dining Room, but we do have a Breakfast Room. Sorta the same thing, right?

So, here is the Breakfast Room at the Cottage! This is where we sit down and have family dinners every night, and where we entertain family and friends. It's small, but filled with love!

My name is Dawn, and I am a blogaholic.

My children are starving, my house is a wreck, the laundry is piling up. Why?

Because I am officially addicted to blogging and to the inspiration that I have found through other bloggers!

Here are a few of my new favs (in no particular order):

Adventures in Decorating

As Time Goes By

Bugaboos Creations

Bunch of Scrap

Creations by Kara

Family of Shorts

Kelly's Korner

My Domestic Bliss

Wow! And that's just a few of them!

I can't stay away!!! I just can't!

Please, tell me I'm not alone!

By the way, no children were harmed in the posting of this, and my home is not really a wreck. But the laundry is piling up!!!

Did you see my new button on the sidebar? I've also added an e-mail button (I got directions on how to do this at Tip Junkie, she's got a ton of tips on blogging today)! I love to get e-mails, so feel free to e-mail me with any questions, advice, to direct me to a cool new site or blog!

The Princess' Thrones

My adorably pregnant SIL will be having her first Baby Shower this Saturday. Her mother and cousin are giving her a double shower. I say double because my SIL's older sister is also expecting a baby girl this summer! Actually just 3 weeks after my SIL is due!

I always think it's special to make some of the gifts that I give. Above is Princess Madeline's throne! I *heart* it so much!!!

This is the side view of Princess Madeline's throne. See the little M's in the middle of the flower? CUTE!

This one is for my SIL's sister. She and her hubby were sure they were having a baby boy until recently. They have not yet chosen a name for their little Princess.

This is the side view of their little Princess' throne!

My Mom and I will be giving SIL a second shower on June 6th at a cute little restaurant in town. I can't wait!!!

***UPDATE***We attended SIL's shower today and the "thrones" were a huge hit!!!! I'm so glad! I am also now offering them in my new Etsy Store (see the banner on the left).

Check out Xazmin's Mod Podge Party over at This is the Year!

You Go Girl!!!

Congratulations to Olympic gold medalist, Shawn Johnson and her dancing partner, Mark on winning last night's Dancing With The Stars finale!!!

I was rooting for this all-American girl from episode one!!!

Yay, Shawn!!!

What's on your wall Wednesday!

Have you checked out Barb over at Grits and Glamour today?

Barb has a great blog, and every Wednesday she hosts What's on Your Wall Wednesday! I'm participating in my first one today!

I found this little plaque a few years ago at a local flea market (that I can't wait to check out again this weekend). It has sentimental value and just kinda spoke to me when I saw it.

Back in 1996 and 1997 when I was expecting my little Josie and right after she was born, I lost my two remaining grandparents and one of my dear uncles.

In October, 1996, my dear Grandpa (who I spoke about here) passed away after a short battle with lung cancer. In February, 1997, 3 weeks after Josie's birth, my dear Grandma Tootsie passed away after a heart attack. We say that she really died of a broken heart after my Grandpa's death. In June, 1997, my Uncle Mike was killed in the line of duty as a firefighter.

The three angels on this plaque represent those 3 angels. The one in the middle with the crooked wings, is my Uncle Mike, cuz he was just plain goofy!

To check out other What's on Your Wall Wednesday posts head over the Grits and Glamour!

Grab My Button!

Ok, so after much trial and error (more error than trial), I've created a button for my blog that you can grab and put on your blog!

With tons of thanks to Amanda from Family of Shorts (see her button on my sidebar)!!! She was very patient and helpful to me!!!

So, if you decide to "grab my button," THANKS!!!!

Me? Really?

Imagine my surprise this evening when I popped over to Kimm's blog Reinvented and saw that she is talking about me and my cookie sheet tray today!!!!

Me? Seriously? Me?

I absolutely LOVE Kimm and her blog, as you can see by her button on my sidebar!

I'm so honored, and humbled, but mostly grateful that I can inspire people to think outside of the box and create the home they want with little or no money!

Thanks, Kimm!

Ok, that's enough... get over there and check out Kimm's Trash to Treasure Party!

Another free piece of furniture!

I'm participating in another Met Monday from Between Naps on the Porch and Trash to Treasure Tuesday over at Reinvented, and Make-over Open House at Sanctuary Arts!

By the way, imagine my utter surprise when I popped over at Reinvented and saw that Kimm (who I LOVE, by the way) was chatting about me in her post today!!!! Me? Little Ol' Me!!! Seriously folks... I'm giddy over this!!! you know how I L*O*V*E freebies, right? Well, who doesn't?

A few weeks ago, I stopped by my cousin's house. She was emptying her hutch, and mentioned that she was going to put the top of the hutch out for trash because she was going to use the bottom as a sideboard.

Trash? Are you kidding me? Of course I asked her if I could have it! I knew it had potential and I could use it for something!

So, this is how it started. It's upside down in this picture 'cuz hubby was working on it.

I was in the kitchen doing dishes, and I heard him yell into me, "Hey Hon, don't you want to take a before picture of this?"

Is he perfect or what?!!!? He knows me sooo well!

So, hubby removed the bottom part of the 'hutch top' and replaced the feet. He sanded it, and painted it creamy white.

Once the paint was dry, I took the sandpaper and roughed it up in spots to make it look more aged.

I'm not done decorating it yet, and I have my eye on an adorable candle holder at Michaels that will look perfect on it. I have a 40% off coupon that starts tomorrow, so I'll be out there then to pick that bad boy up!

Thank you for the Birthday wishes!!!

I want to thank all of you for the sweet Birthday wishes!

I had a great day! I prefer a low key celebration, so we had chinese food for dinner, then root beer floats at the local ice cream shop. Yum!

The kiddos were pretty much caked in mud in this picture. They had been in the woods riding their quads.

We had a great time sitting around the fire in the new fire pit that my Mom and Dad bought me for my b-day.

Brady and Abby had a great time too!

Have a great day!!!

Princess Sophia's Throne

As I mentioned earlier, my cousin's little girl will be celebrating her first birthday tomorrow! I made this bench for little Sophia for her birthday.

When Sophia's mommy and I were little, our Grandpa made little benches for all of his grandchildren. When he passed away, and a new generation began, I knew that I would carry on the tradition in his memory.

I hope the Princess loves her new throne!

Cottage Style Inspiration

I was looking on Google images for some inspiration for my "family room" and came across this picture.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I just love it!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Today is my 37th Birthday!!! Yikes!

May in my family has always been known as birthday month. Growing up we had 5 birthdays in 3 days.

Here's the rundown:

May 13th- my youngest brother, Jimmy
my Uncle Gerry

May 14th- my younger brother, Tommy
my Grandma Tootsie

May 15th- ME!!!

We always celebrated with one big party, and it was always so much fun!

I've since lost my Grandma Tootsie, 12 yrs ago, and my brother Tommy almost 2 years ago. I miss them both dearly!!!

Last May 16th, my dear cousin, Becky welcomed her first child. We will celebrate Princess Sophia's 1st birthday tomorrow!

I hope you all have a great day!!!

Annual Cottage Charm Giveaway

Kim at Twice Remembered is hosting her Annual Cottage Charm Giveaway!

Head over there now and check out all the great giveaways being hosted by the most fabulous bloggers!!!

Window Makeover

Remember the pictures of the "ugly chair" that I showed you here? Well after I posted it, I got a lot of great suggestions on what I should do with the wall above the chair. Many of you thought that I should add some color to that area.

So...with another one of the neighbors old windows (remember she told me that I wouldn't do anything with them?), I came up with this!

Prince Charming and I painted it black, and he added a small shelf to the bottom of it. You'll never guess what he used... a left over piece of unfinished hardwood flooring!!!

With a little scrapbook paper from Michaels this is what it became!

By the way, Michaels has some really beautiful new scrapbook papers, but they don't have any toile, and they are REALLY expensive now! These papers were $1.69 each!!! What???

Anyway, I hope you like my new old window! I *heart* it!!!

Hey Amanda!

Hey there Amanda from Serenity Now! I hope you are having a very Happy Mother's Day (that goes for all of you Moms out there, too)!

This is what will be heading your way later this week!

These are the pics of what I created for my Dollar Store Challenge! I was so anxious to get started that I didn't take before pics. Sorry about that!

These cuties started life as a standard document frame that was brown, and one of those plaques that you've seen me use before and have seen all around bloggyland.

With some chalkboard paint, scrapbook paper that I had on hand and my trusty dusty Cricut, this is the end product!

This is a closer picture of the framed monogram for Amanda! Sorry about the blurry pictures, not sure what's going on with my camera!

Amanda, I hope you love these guys!
