Window Makeover

Remember the pictures of the "ugly chair" that I showed you here? Well after I posted it, I got a lot of great suggestions on what I should do with the wall above the chair. Many of you thought that I should add some color to that area.

So...with another one of the neighbors old windows (remember she told me that I wouldn't do anything with them?), I came up with this!

Prince Charming and I painted it black, and he added a small shelf to the bottom of it. You'll never guess what he used... a left over piece of unfinished hardwood flooring!!!

With a little scrapbook paper from Michaels this is what it became!

By the way, Michaels has some really beautiful new scrapbook papers, but they don't have any toile, and they are REALLY expensive now! These papers were $1.69 each!!! What???

Anyway, I hope you like my new old window! I *heart* it!!!

  1. I love it!!! That is so beautiful!

  2. That is just stunning! I totally love it and I think I am going to have to copy. :)

  3. Dawn, I {heart} it, too!! It's so neat! You'll kill me, but this is how bad I am. I have the cutest 3 pane window. I bought it already painted a cool retro green. I've had it maybe 3 years+...and I've had it in a store room since I bought it! I don't know where to hang it! Soooo bad, I am. I should get it out before dh breaks it rummaging in the store room!

  4. Wow~ that is JUST what that space needed! I LOVE red. It looks awesome! So nice of hubby to make the little shelf for the bottom. It really completes it!

  5. THIS is why I love blogging. I see so many awesome projects from such talented people. Amazing!! :)

  6. I LOVE this Dawn! I have a couple windows I want to do something fabulous with...but I was stumped for ideas. I think I might have to copy this one. It's beautiful. And what is up with Michael's paper being so dang expensive??? I think I'll stick with the half off paper at Hobby Lobby!

  7. Oh I love this. The colors, the grid, the words, the little shelf. Love it, love it, love it. Great job

  8. And to think I had an old window and threw it out a few years ago! Love what you did! I'm on the lookout for old windows!!!

  9. It looks great. I can't believe the price on the paper! I haven't had to buy any in a long time, when AC Moore went out of business I bought tons of paper for 10 cents each.

  10. Dawn, oh my gosh your window is awesome!!!! looks fantastic and i think your chair is just fine. Good going girl!!!

  11. This little frame is just adorable! I love it, and your cottage charm. :)

I loove me some comments! Hugs!
